Masks
What in the suffocating, heeeey cute fabric, glasses fogging, you better have a filter in that, judgmental, controversial heck???!!!
Can cloth face masks or surgical face masks stop the spread of COVID-19? NO.
Wearing a cloth or surgical mask PROPERLY can potentially SLOW the spread of the virus in conjunction with PROPER hand hygiene and social distancing.
Masks are also NOT recommended for those under the age of 2 years old, anyone with respiratory issues or those with mental health issues which include but are not limited to severe anxiety disorder or claustrophobia.
Personally, I have significantly limited my contact with others. I elect to do grocery pick up whenever possible. I have been inside
Walmart and Sam’s several times, sometimes with a mask and times without. Wearing a mask makes me very hot. So hot that I feel and look like I’ve just left the inside realm of an inferno and could spontaneously combust at any moment. I’ve preferred to go without a mask for the most part because when I get that hot, I get dizzy. I feel sure that Walmart would frown on my climbing into one of the freezers to cool off. I carry disinfectant spray or hand sanitizer with me at all times. I spray my shopping cart and hands before use, several times during use and I spray my hands before I get into my car. I regularly wipe down my phone and the inside of my car when I go somewhere. I change my clothes when I get home and wash my hands and arms with soap and water.
I wipe off my doorknobs at home about twice weekly.
Mini Mayhem is immunocompromised from medications to keep her transplanted kidney (Karla) healthy. I take her health VERY seriously. I’m not really doing anything differently now than what I’ve been doing the last 2 years to protect myself and her from the flu, other viruses and bacteria, except using a bit more hand sanitizer.
Do I believe COVID-19 is real? Yes.
Do I believe it can be fatal? Yes.
Do I believe some of these numbers being reported are skewed? Yes.
Do I think some places are exaggerating their Medicare cases to receive federal money at a higher reimbursement rate? Yes.
Do I think other places are getting kickbacks for positive cases? Yes.
Do I think the media is taking this and running with it to induce and continue panic? Yes.
I feel that people need to be cautious, wash their hands and exercise distance from anyone potentially exposed or from people they do not know. If you don’t mind wearing a mask and feel better doing so, I have no problem with that. If I see you out in public and you’re not wearing a mask, I don’t judge you. However, if I see you out wearing a mask over your mouth but not your nose, I’m thinking negative, sarcastic thoughts about you. If I see you continuously touching your mask to readjust it or scratch your nose, touching your cart then pulling your mask down to rub your nose or take/make a phone call, I’m thinking negative, sarcastic thoughts about you. If you say that you put your mask on to wear inside stores and then store it in your glove box until you needed it again, I’m thinking negative, sarcastic thoughts about you. 🤷🏻♀️
IMO: Be safe. COVID-19 IS real and you should be smart. Don’t disregard the risks but live your life without extreme fear. I personally know people who have tested positive and recovered, yet a few are now noticing some possible long term effects from it. It also lasted more than 14 days for some.
MS cannot afford another statewide shut down. Some haven’t recovered from the first one. Flattening the curve isn’t just for protecting those at risk due to health concerns but those who depend on their “non essential” job to feed themselves, their children, keep a roof over their head.
Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds. If you wear a mask, wear it correctly, dispose of it or wash after each use and if you're unsure of how to do any of these, Google is your friend.
