I Am A Doomed Stay Prepper

Until recently, it had been a good minute since Mini Mayhem had a hospital stay. I try to keep some necessities packed in a bag for times we must leave in a hurry or to make it easier for things to be brought to me later if admitted. So if we are doomed to stay, I want to be prepared.

Besides the obvious needed items of clothing and toiletries, I MUST have coffee. I bring my own coffee, stored in an airtight plastic container. I have coffee creamer, powdered for emergency use but if time allows, I pour my liquid creamer in a bottle with a lid that is used for breast milk. If there is not a refrigerator in the room, I keep it in a bag in the family room refrigerator. People don’t generally mess with breast milk so they will leave it alone. 😂 I know it’s coffee creamer, but pilferers are none the wiser. I have a collapsible tea kettle for boiling my water. It smooshes down flat and has a nifty storage case and most importantly, I have my coffee maker.
I used a stainless French press in the past. I like my coffee strong and it is often bitter with a French press. Now I use this handy dandy contraption called an AeroPress. I honestly did not have high hopes for it when I saw how it worked, although claiming to be a “Barista level portable” and having “no more bitterness and grit” like you get from a French press. It is 3 pieces, plastic, and doesn’t look like anything remotely fancy but it sure does make you a fancy cup of joe! The Original makes about 10 oz of coffee which is just enough to help me TRY to hold my eyes open but in taking LESS THAN ONE MINUTE to "brew", it’s no issue to begin sipping on your first 10 ounces while making another 10. You simply add coffee, water, stir and press. There is a XL model that makes 20 ounces but for the $45! price difference, I will make 10 ounces twice, thanks.
I initially took issue with paying $25 (sale price) for a few pieces of plastic but after using it once, I quickly realized it was worth every penny of the $39.95 full retail price. I had saved one on my Amazon list a long time ago but hate when I have to return items that don’t work (which I assumed I’d have to do because this thing could not be as glorious as they proclaim).
One day, while adding items to my grocery list for delivery, there was an advertisement for one and I thought what better time to try this thing than while it is on sale? Thanks, Walmart! If you need something lightweight, easily portable and you have a way to heat water or access hot water, I HIGHLY recommend it. You can do iced coffee too; you just delay your press by one minute. It would be great for tent camping. One model even comes with a cup, and everything is stored inside. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
