There ARE Good People In Politics

Despite the negative reputation that politicians receive, it's important to remember that there are indeed good people in politics. These are the ones who enter the political arena not for personal gain or power trips, but out of a genuine desire to serve their communities and make a positive impact. These individuals may not always make headlines or grab attention, but they work tirelessly behind the scenes to make positive changes and advocate for those who are marginalized or disadvantaged. These good people in politics are driven by a genuine desire to serve their constituents. May their integrity shine brightly amidst all the chaos of Capitol Hill.

My previous post was about the absurdity I was experiencing with Medicaid and my unsuccessful attempt to get answers relating to Mini Mayhem. After three consecutive days, I gave up and emailed two senators at 4:17 PM Friday, 4/11. I received a reply from Senator Kevin Blackwell on Monday, 4/14 at 11:50 AM. I consider that a remarkable turnaround time on a response. He stated that he had forwarded my email to Medicaid and the Department of Human Services. I received a phone call from someone with Medicaid yesterday, Tuesday, 4/15 at 9:05 AM. I missed the call and the lady was leaving the office at noon and would be working from the road for the rest of the week so I didn’t call her back yesterday and planned to call on Monday. Senator Blackwell sent a follow-up email to me today at 12:56 PM.

This will be the fourth time in over 13 years that I have involved someone in the Senate or House of Representatives. Three of the four times I have had a great experience. I don’t know how this current situation will work out but so far I have been impressed with my questions and issues being taken seriously.

I say all of this to let you know that if you need help with (MS), state, government related issues, reach out to your elected officials in Jackson! Each member of the Senate and the House are members of committees, and each committee has a Chairperson and Vice Chair from the Senate along with supporting members of the House. Find the committee responsible for the issue you need assistance with and email someone. I will post the link to the list of committees and the members of each below.

There is also an app you can download on your phone called ECM Legislative Roster.
It looks like this:
