Hospital 🏥 Day 14 Update & ROLL TIDE

I know the game isn't over but we say Roll Tide regardless.

I went home to sleep last night. I thought I would pass out as soon as my head hit the pillow but my mind didn’t allow it. I hated being away from my girl but knew she was in very capable hands with her Daddy. He’s likely to act my maiden name quicker than I would if you mess with our girl. 🤣🤣🤣

Oxygen is still being weaned (decreased) daily. She is on 12 L 27%. Her oxygenation will decrease 88-89 on occasion but that seems to resolve with the RT (Respiratory Therapist) suctioning her. 90 and above oxygenation is good but 95 and above is even better. Below 90, you need to evaluate what’s going on.

She had a fever around 11 am and a seizure that stopped quickly after rescue meds. She hasn’t had another. Because of the random fever they are doing blood and urine cultures again and started an antibiotic. I am not a big fan of restarting antibiotics because I don’t want her to become antibiotic resistant and her white blood cell count (that would typically indicate and infection) was normal this morning.

She slept most of the day today but has been awake since about 3pm.

Sodium, Potassium and Magnesium is within the normal range. 🙌🎉

She seemed to urinate more in her diaper this morning, but this afternoon was holding on to a lot and had to be cathed to empty her bladder.

Kidney labs are about the same, still meeehh. They are continuing to watch her sodium as they slowly increase her water, Karla is still thirsty.

They did a 45 minute EEG today. It will be tomorrow or the next day before those results are available. “An EEG, or electroencephalogram, is a test that records the electrical activity of the brain using small sensors called electrodes placed on the scalp. The test shows brainwave patterns as wavy lines on a computer and is used to diagnose neurological conditions like epilepsy, brain injuries, tumors, and sleep disorders.” It will also show any irregular brain activity. They have done previous EEGs on her before, so they have something to compare it to and see if there is anything new.

She got startled twice today and jumped. She has a very sensitive startle reflex but had not been reacting to anything, not even things that were suddenly really loud. The fact that she did startle twice today is good news! AND I just asked her to raise her hand and say hi to her nurse and she didn’t just lift her hand but raised it up! That’s more good news. 🙌🎉

I think that sums up the day. Oh, and I have a recliner! <3

THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the continued prayers. This has been so extremely stressful because I have been worried sick over her neuro status and about Karla. Just when I feel like I can take a deep breath, she will have a fever, or a lab will be off and I am back holding my breath again.
I greatly appreciate all the thoughts, prayers and everyone who reaches out. I do try to respond as soon as I can and sometimes I read the messages and get distracted and forget to go back and reply in a timely manner so forgive me. I am very grateful for everything!!!!
