Hospital 🏥 Day 4 Update
Kidney labs are moving in the right direction. (Creatine 0.83, now 0.73 and her baseline is 0.6)
Sodium (160) moving in the right direction.
Potassium (went from 2.6 to 2.4 now 2.2!) moving in the wrong direction. They need to raise that without causing diarrhea again like it did with the potassium mixed with the IV fluids. She’s currently getting it IV through her central line.
The EEG for the short time she was monitored yesterday didn’t show anything abnormal.
Another CT was done and it was unchanged from the one done 3 days ago.
Chest X-ray showing pneumonia. I think that once she is more alert and able to cough, that will improve. Meanwhile she’s getting breathing treatments, chest PT and cough assist. All those things help loosen secretions, encourage cough and suction to get rid of the “junk”.
Last night she opened her eyes (not wide but some) and was blinking. She also blinked with her eyes closed too when I called her name.
This morning she was trying to push the doctor’s hand away when she was checking her stomach. She is also reacting when they suction her secretions which she had not been doing anything. The lowering sodium level seems to be playing a role in her being more responsive.
Her arm with the superficial venous clot is more swollen today. She has good color and palpable pulses but the swelling in her hand has increased into her forearm. They’re doing another US right now.

I’ve still had a very good experience here this stay. Now that kidney labs are improving, I am not sure that the transfer to AL will still happen. If not, I’m ok with that as long as things continue to progress in a positive direction.
I have access to her test results in the patient portal again! I get to stop worrying the nurse every 5 minutes.
Thank you for your prayers and all of the positive things. Please keep them coming. Overall, she’s improving but there are still some unknowns, such as neuro deficits that cannot be determined until she wakes up and stays awake and her potassium is normalized. 🫶🏼
