Watch Your Words
“The development and wiring of our human brain are guided by our experiences during childhood and adolescence.1 When we use negative and hurtful words toward our kids it can affect their emotional, cognitive and social development. They will repeat the behavior towards those around them, which becomes a vicious cycle.
We need to be diligent to use the power of our words to build up and not tear down. In Ephesians 4:29 it says, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”.
We also need to apply the principle to how we talk about ourselves. We have the ability to kill a dream, kill our own confidence, kill our relationships, kill our joy and kill our peace with our very own words. We need to begin to speak words of life over ourselves, to speak the Word of God over ourselves when we are feeling defeated, insecure, afraid, depressed or angry because God’s words bring life not death.
We need to speak life over our kids, our friends, our family, and we can’t forget to speak life over ourselves.
Today, choose to speak words filled with live and watch how your day changes.”
