What's In Your Cup?

Image
You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere. Why did you spill the coffee? "Well because someone bumped into me, of course!" Wrong answer. You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup. Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea. *Whatever is inside the cup, is what will spill out.* Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled. *So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?" When life gets tough, what spills over? Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility? Or anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions? You choose! Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation, kindness, gentleness, and love for others. (The above was taken from  Good News Planet ,)

Give my sight to the man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby's face, or love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to a person whose own heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain. Give my blood to the teenager who was pulled from the wreckage of his car, so that he might live to see his grandchildren play. Give my kidneys to one who depends on a machine to exist from week to week. Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled child walk. If you must bury something, let it be my faults, my weaknesses, and all prejudice against my fellow man. Give my sins to the devil. Give my soul to God. If, by chance, you wish to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you. If you do all I have asked, I will live forever. -- Robert N. Test #DonateLife ©️

Si vis pacem, para bellum.

The title is Latin. I do not speak Latin. It's just something I encountered a long while ago and liked it. It means, If you want peace, prepare for war. It seems to be the summation of my life. I am constantly struggling against something to just to grab a few moments of contentment. I decided to come here to attempt to empty my thoughts and perhaps calm my mind, if even briefly.

Masks

What in the suffocating, heeeey cute fabric, glasses fogging, you better have a filter in that, judgmental, controversial heck???!!! Can cloth face masks or surgical face masks stop the spread of COVID-19? NO. Wearing a cloth or surgical mask PROPERLY can potentially SLOW the spread of the virus in conjunction with PROPER hand hygiene and social distancing. Masks are also NOT recommended for those under the age of 2 years old, anyone with respiratory issues or those with mental health issues which include but are not limited to severe anxiety disorder or claustrophobia. Personally, I have significantly limited my contact with others. I elect to do grocery pick up whenever possible. I have been inside Walmart and Sam’s several times, sometimes with a mask and times without. Wearing a mask makes me very hot. So hot that I feel and look like I’ve just left the inside realm of an inferno and could spontaneously combust at any moment. I’ve preferred to go without a mask for the most part be...

Idle Hands & The Power of Positivity

I've never really made resolutions for the new year in the past.  There has never been something that I wanted to significantly change.....until this year.  I will not so much call it a new year resolution as much as I would consider it holding myself accountable. Change is difficult and even recognizing and accepting that something needs to change doesn't come easy. The last two years have likely been and will be my most challenging.   I have been through the toughest emotional circumstance I could ever imagine, lost four nurses who cared for Maci, and failed two semesters of nursing school.  Instead of giving up, I have kept going.  It's been hard. My wings had been clipped.  Emotionally, it was devestatingly painful.  How had I worked so hard to fly, only to be grounded.  I had grown comfortable flying.....with everything going "right".  Once back on the ground, I had to learn to stand on my own two feet again.  I had to regain...

Don't Wish It Away

Every day I experience a life changing process. I have friends going through life changing times right now....death of a loved one, health scares, bouncing back from health scares/issues, preparing for the birth of a child, job or career changes. We always seem to wish away the bad things in our lives. I am sure guilty of it. We just want it to pass, to get through it, get it over with so we can move on. The thing is, even though it is a difficult time or experience, you should be learning something and you will be stronger when it's done. I think sometimes even through the good times we want to rush things along. People get in a rush to be finished with college just to work the rest of their lives. People wish to be married at a young age when they should take their time and be sure they are with the person they are truly supposed to be with. The Bible even says, "love is patient". Too many people hurry it, rush it, and if it is really a love that's worth it, i...

A Small Regret

In high school, as electives, I took business classes. Business Law, Business Dynamics, Accounting I & II. I thought I would benefit from them but NOOOOO. What I should have done is taken every class Mrs. Tudor taught and learned to sew! There have been MANY times in my life, including now, that I regret not taking Home Economics!!!! If you go into the field of business, you can learn what you need to learn in college. However, some day you will likely have a family and if you have a little girl, SEWING can greatly benefit you.....Maci can't wear an accounting spreadsheet. She COULD wear a pair of ruffle pants or a dress that I made....if only I could SEW! With continuous issues in getting Maci nursing care, inability to afford a full time sitter while I were to work, I became desperate in trying to think of some way to bring in money at home. I love Scentsy and considered being an independent consultant but I am so unsure of the amount of time I would be able to dedicate to p...
